Mandarin Class Goal Setting in the first Trimester
Name: Tommy Yoon Level: Intermediate Mandarin Grade: 7
What is your difficulty in learning Mandarin?
The most difficult problem in learning Mandarin is writing and reading. The mandarin characters are pretty much complicated and so, whenever I see those complicated words, I can’t read and write them. So I think that might be the problem for this year.
Please list your goals in different areas:
Listening: My goal is to understand what Chinese people are saying perfectly even though they are talking fast.
Oral: My goal is to speak as fluently as Chinese people and correct my pronunciation and tones so that when I talk to my Chinese friends, they will be able to understand and know what I am saying.
Reading: My goal is to memorize all the basic words and be able to read them out with correct punctuations and tones.
Character Writing: My goal is to know how to write most of the important character that might help me in learning Mandarin.
Classroom participation: My goal is to talk less with my friends so that I can
concentrate on my work and assignments.
For achieving my goal, I would like to do:
Listening: I would like to try more to have many Chinese friends to talk with, so that I can understand what they are saying, in the future.
Oral: Just like listening, I would try to have many Chinese friends to talk with, so that I can talk a lot in Chinese.
Reading: Try to read a lot of Chinese book if got chances, so that I can practice reading and speaking at the same time.
Character Writing: I should try to write some essays in Chinese so that I can apply as many words I know, to the writing.
Classroom participation: When I really want to talk, talk only after the teacher is done with talking and do not talk over the teacher.
