Mandarin Project

Reflection of your achievement in first Trimester

1) Are you satisfied with your Mandarin progress and final grades?
2) Did you make a lot of effort on Mandarin in the first Trimester? I you did, please tell us what effort in which area that you made. You can tell us by these categories: participation, class behavior, class work as well as the homework.
3)Explain what you achieve in the following areas: listening, speaking, reading and character writing
4) What's your plan in then ext trimester to make your Mandarin improved?

1) Yes

2) Yes an no, because I talked and was lack of concentration when I sat with my friends, but after I changed the seat and sit with other people, I had been more focused. Both participation and the behavior got better after the seat-change. For homework, I only missed about 2 of them so I don't think I have any problem for that.

3) Listening, before the listening practices, I had profuse problems listening to Mandarin, but after the oral test and listening practices, I felt more comfortable listening. Speaking, I think I got more fluent then before. Reading and character writing, I still have to work a lot on it so that they will be as good as my listening and speaking skills.

4) Keep sitting away from my friends, to be less distracted and to less distract, participate more in the class, and always check moodle for my homework and information about class.

Mandarin Goal Setting

Mandarin Class Goal Setting in the first Trimester

Name: Tommy Yoon Level: Intermediate Mandarin Grade: 7

What is your difficulty in learning Mandarin?

The most difficult problem in learning Mandarin is writing and reading. The mandarin characters are pretty much complicated and so, whenever I see those complicated words, I can’t read and write them. So I think that might be the problem for this year.

Please list your goals in different areas:

Listening: My goal is to understand what Chinese people are saying perfectly even though they are talking fast.

Oral: My goal is to speak as fluently as Chinese people and correct my pronunciation and tones so that when I talk to my Chinese friends, they will be able to understand and know what I am saying.

Reading: My goal is to memorize all the basic words and be able to read them out with correct punctuations and tones.

Character Writing: My goal is to know how to write most of the important character that might help me in learning Mandarin.

Classroom participation: My goal is to talk less with my friends so that I can

concentrate on my work and assignments.

For achieving my goal, I would like to do:

Listening: I would like to try more to have many Chinese friends to talk with, so that I can understand what they are saying, in the future.

Oral: Just like listening, I would try to have many Chinese friends to talk with, so that I can talk a lot in Chinese.

Reading: Try to read a lot of Chinese book if got chances, so that I can practice reading and speaking at the same time.

Character Writing: I should try to write some essays in Chinese so that I can apply as many words I know, to the writing.

Classroom participation: When I really want to talk, talk only after the teacher is done with talking and do not talk over the teacher.
